Wellness Exam

Regular wellness exams are the cornerstone of your pet’s long, healthy life. Whether your companion is young, senior, or anywhere in between, these visits allow us to perform a thorough nose-to-tail examination and create a complete health profile. This helps us detect subtle changes, identify potential concerns early, and maintain your pet’s overall well-being.
During the exam, we’ll assess all major organ systems, review your pet’s behavior, appetite, exercise habits, and home routine, and discuss any recommended vaccines or diagnostic tests. Even if your pet appears healthy, routine checkups help catch early signs of illness before they progress.

Wellness visits are also a great time to ask questions—we welcome them all. These conversations help us better understand your pet’s lifestyle and needs, allowing us to partner with you in creating the best care plan possible. Schedule your pet’s wellness exam today and take an active role in keeping them happy, healthy, and thriving.
Urgent Care/Sick Exams

As part of providing comprehensive care for our patients, we offer urgent care and sick evaluation services on a scheduled basis to our active clients. We will do our best to accommodate urgent concerns like limping, ear or skin infections, wounds, vomiting, and diarrhea promptly. In the event of a more serious concern, our trained client service representatives and technicians can help guide you through deciding if a secondary emergency or specialty care facility would be appropriate to provide your pet with the best level of care possible.
In addition to acute concerns, our doctors and staff are able to help you and your pet through managing other chronic conditions like gastrointestinal disorders, arthritis and pain, asthma and other respiratory disorders, and many more. We often utilize the guidance of specialists with additional training and will advise you if referral to a boarded specialist is appropriate for your pet.

Senior Care

Did you know pets are often considered “seniors” around age seven? As your pet ages, their nutritional, exercise, and medical needs evolve, just like ours do. Some age-related changes are normal, but others may signal underlying health issues that require attention.
Regular wellness exams are essential for early detection and ongoing management of age-related conditions. Routine blood work and diagnostic testing help us monitor how your pet’s health is changing over time and ensure current treatments remain effective. Our team understands the aging process and will partner with you to adjust care as your pet’s needs change. Senior pets make wonderful companions, and with attentive veterinary care, they can enjoy long, happy, and comfortable lives.

Schedule your senior pet’s wellness visit today to help them stay healthy through their golden years.
Large Animal

Our team provides veterinary care for both production and companion sheep, cows, goats, pigs, alpacas, and llamas. We pride ourselves on a high standard of care for all species and encourage early intervention.

Routine wellness visits are required for all clients and include hoof care, annual vaccinations, and fecal parasite testing to guide appropriate deworming decisions. We will provide necessary client education to help with preventative care. Our large animal team is equipped to perform a range of routine surgical procedures, including castrations and disbudding.
We offer examinations and emergency coverage for active clients to help in the event of an accident, illness, or reproductive complication (such as lambing or kidding difficulties). This includes surgical procedures such as cesarean sections and laceration repair.
Vaccinations

Vaccines help pets live longer, healthier lives by protecting them from serious infectious diseases. While many illnesses have become less common since the development of vaccines, unvaccinated pets remain at risk.
Our doctors tailor vaccine plans to each pet’s unique needs, considering age, lifestyle, travel habits, and exposure risks. Core vaccines are recommended for all pets, while others may be advised based on individual circumstances. We’ll work with you to create a personalized vaccination and booster schedule that keeps your pet protected at every stage of life.
Call us today to discuss the best plan for your pet’s continued health and safety.
Surgery

Our doctors have designated surgery days for routine operations, and we’ll review your pet’s specific needs and available options during the scheduling process. Most surgical procedures are performed in our office, except for orthopedic and critical care cases. For specialized or advanced procedures, we can provide a referral to a board-certified veterinary surgeon to ensure your pet receives the highest standard of care.
Dental Care

Our dental care services are provided under full anesthesia. This allows for comprehensive and safe oral health evaluation and treatment. While anesthetized, we clean and polish all of your pet’s teeth, perform full mouth dental x-rays, and examine all teeth for pocketing or other abnormalities and signs of disease.
After this comprehensive oral health assessment has been performed by the doctor, they will address any diseased teeth with an appropriate treatment such as extraction, minor oral surgery, and root planing. Any advanced dental procedures can be referred to board board-certified veterinary dentist for completion.
Anesthesia

In an effort to provide the best care possible and minimize risks associated with anesthesia, we perform a thorough pre-anesthetic workup with blood testing and an ECG. This identifies any abnormalities in major organ function, blood cells, and cardiac function, so we can anticipate those needs during anesthesia.
We also routinely provide all anesthetic patients with pre-anesthetic oral medication to reduce stress and anxiety and improve the anesthetic process for your pet. If appropriate, anti-nausea medication and pain medication are routinely part of the pre-anesthetic treatment protocol as well.
Laboratory

We offer a variety of in-house laboratory testing, including:

-
Serum chemistry and hematology
-
Select SNAP testing
-
Urinalysis
-
Fecal parasite testing
-
Microscopy, cytology
We also utilize multiple commercial veterinary laboratories and universities for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Radiology (X-Rays)

We offer in-house radiology services where our doctors provide preliminary interpretation, then send the images out to a board-certified radiologist for a finalized report. When appropriate, we offer sedation for our radiology services to lessen the stress for your pet and provide us with better quality images.
Pain Management

High-quality veterinary care means treating the whole patient, body and mind. Pain can impact not only your pet’s physical health but also their emotional well-being, which is why pain management is a core part of every treatment we provide.

From routine procedures (such as spays, neuters, and dental cleanings) to advanced treatments and chronic conditions like arthritis, our team is committed to providing safe and effective pain relief for your pet. We also help you to recognize signs of pain at home so that we can adjust your pet’s care plan as needed. Recognizing and alleviating pain is central to compassionate veterinary medicine. Our goal is always to keep your pet comfortable, healthy, and on the path to full recovery.
Ultrasound

Advances in medical technology have greatly enhanced the quality of veterinary care. One of the most valuable tools we use is diagnostic ultrasound, a safe and non-invasive imaging technique that allows us to see what’s happening inside your pet’s body. We offer in-house ultrasound use by our doctors to help with certain procedures, like aspirates or sterile urine collection, as well as a preliminary diagnostic tool to screen for problems such as fluid in the chest or abdomen.

If a more expert eye is needed, we have different specialists come in and perform ultrasounds and consultations here at Country Companions. They work closely with our doctors to guide case recommendations and provide a more experienced diagnostic ultrasound. These services are either of the abdomen to assess structures such as the liver, spleen, kidneys, gallbladder, intestines, and lymph nodes, or of the heart to diagnose different types of heart disease and guide treatment options.
Microchipping

Microchipping is a widely recommended means of identification in the event your pet goes missing. Accidents happen! Collars and tags can break off, and many pets do not wear them at all. Indoor pets sometimes make escapes, and animals used to being outside can be startled off by fireworks or a loud noise. Microchips are a safe and effective universal form of identification that can help your pet make a safe return. If a lost pet is picked up by a shelter, animal control, or other veterinarian, they will scan the pet for a microchip, which contains a unique number that can be linked back to you!

Microchips are about the size of a grain of rice and are placed under the skin with a brief injection. We often place them under general anesthesia at the time of spay or neuter, but it can also be done at any routine doctor appointment as well, with a small amount of pain control. Once placed, our client service representatives can help you register your pet’s microchip with the company so they are easily linked back to you.
Parasite Prevention and Control

Regular parasite prevention is an important and growing side of animal health and wellness. External parasites like fleas and ticks can all cause serious life life-threatening illnesses and often harbor other infectious diseases like Lyme disease that can be contracted by dogs, cats, and humans. Internal parasites like gastrointestinal worms and heartworms that live in the bloodstream can also easily infect our pets and can pose significant dangers to their health. There are many options for effective prevention that are strongly advised by the veterinary community, and our team is here to help you understand all of those options and make the best selection to protect you and your pet.

As part of our high standard of care, we also guide you through yearly diagnostics to screen for tick-borne disease, heartworm disease, and parasites found in a stool sample. Early detection and treatment, although not a replacement for prevention, are useful parts of your pet’s care plan to avoid significant and life-threatening disease.
Nutritional Assessments

Nutrition is an extremely important part of your pet’s overall health and well-being. It is often something that owners feel very connected to, as food can be part of how you show them love and care. Navigating nutritional decisions for your pet can be a difficult and overwhelming process. Your pet’s needs are ever-changing, from helping them grow as a puppy or kitten to maintaining a healthy adult weight, to using food, nutrition, and supplements as a therapeutic tool to combat illness. Appropriate dietary balance is crucial at all points in your pet’s life, and we want to support each patient with that knowledge.
We can help make general recommendations for commercial diets, provide appropriate references for home cooking information, and help to guide an appropriate balance of calories and supplements. We also make specialty dietary recommendations to treat chronic diseases or manage a variety of medical conditions, including kidney disease, gastrointestinal disease, food allergies, obesity, arthritis, urinary disease, and many more.
Hospice and Euthanasia Services

Our staff of compassionate, caring professionals can help you through the difficult process of navigating palliative/comfort care and euthanasia. We offer hospice services and will work with you to ensure your pet's comfort and dignity are of the utmost priority during their final moments. Any and all questions are welcome, from special requests to the care of your pet’s remains, and we try to accommodate requests for in-home euthanasia for current clients with companion and farm animals.

Deciding when your pet may need hospice care or euthanasia is a very personal and private decision, but we are open to helping and discussing that decision with you and your family. We will work with you as a team to help with a palliative care plan that makes both you and your pet comfortable. When the time comes, our hospice and humane euthanasia services are conducted with respect, compassion, and care.
